PANDA Honors...
2010 Panda Honorees
Nadine Mathis Basha is truly a champion for Arizona's children. Her work on numerous boards and committees, including the Children's Action Alliance, which she founded; First Things First, known formally as the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board; and Proposition 203, to generate funds to establish a comprehensive system of early childhood development and health have been vital to our community. More importantly, it is through Nadine's efforts and energy that the vision of seeing every Arizona child enter kindergarten safe, healthy and ready to succeed will be fulfilled. More Information on Nadine Eddie Basha is a man with deep roots in Arizona. Born and raised in the community of Chandler, Basha has dedicated most of his life to making Arizona a better place to live. His advocacy for children and education is legendary, as evidenced by 8 years on the Arizona Board of Regents, 13 years on the Chandler School Board and two consecutive terms on the State Board of Education. Eddie has devoted countless hours toward the plight of the homeless and hungry, health care issues, as a proponent of the arts, numerous political referendums and many other community and civic projects as well - an impressive commitment to Arizona that he and his wife, Nadine, have passed on to their family of six sons. More Information on Eddie Additionally, the Bashas have donated nearly $200,000 towards the Louise Thomas Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cancer held by Dr. Katsanis. This makes for the perfect synergy with this year's cause and we are pleased to honor Nadine and Eddie Basha at the 2010 PANDA "Children Helping Children" Fashion Show and Luncheon.

PANDA 2010 Funding
PANDA
Children’s Cancer Immunology Program
We invite you
to join us in funding Project 2010 - the PANDA
Children’s Cancer Immunology Program - a program
that is on the cutting-edge of offering a promising
option to fight cancer. Children fighting cancer
face tremendous odds. Despite advances in survival
rates, chemotherapy and radiation are toxic, causing
short-term suffering and long-term complications.
The
PANDA Children’s Cancer Immunology Program
will fund research for a new option of
treatment—immunotherapy. Immunotherapy
re-programs a child’s own disease-fighting cells to
recognize his or her own individual cancer cells and
prevent them from multiplying. Scientists believe
that a child’s own immune system may become an
effective way to treat cancer or to prevent
relapses.
Dr. Emmanuel Katsanis at the Steele Children’s
Research Center heads a team of
physician-scientists conducting research in
pediatric immunotherapy. Dr. Katsanis and the Steele
Center are one of the few research centers in the
country conducting pediatric cancer immunology
research and developing novel immunotherapy
treatments against cancer.
The PANDA Children’s Cancer Immunology Program
will fund the:
• Development of promising,
individualized anti-cancer vaccines to stimulate the
immune system to fight cancer
• Advancement of cancer
research—transitioning successful laboratory
research to human clinical trials
• Recruitment of scientists to the
Steele Center to further the expansion of pediatric
cancer immunology research With your generous support, the PANDA Children’s Cancer Immunology Program can potentially change the way we treat pediatric cancer in the future! ______________________________

What's New

Charity Charms has created two wonderful sterling silver charms for PANDA using our logo and the Steele Children's Research Center logo. When the charms are worn, and people ask about it, the wearer can spread the word about PANDA's mission.
The charms come with the signature "clip on" clasp so they can be attached to jewelry items, key chains, zippers, dog collars and more. This makes them universal for women, men, children, and even a pet!
